What is WVEF?
The WVEF is a newly formed non-profit comprised of individuals from the business, academic and economic development communities promoting the formation and sucess of innovative and growth-oriented companies. Typical monthly programs include networking with a variety of business professionals including venture capitalists, private investors, industry experts, business service providers, inventors, and other successful Entrepreneurs.

The WVEF formation is based on the premise that the future economic vitality of our region must come from the emergence of new businesses through entrepreneurship. In order for this to occur, there must be an entrepreneurial culture, a pool of resources to draw from, and successful models to follow. It is our hope that the WVEF can provide the critical mass necessary to begin to create this mindset and attract these resources to our region as a means of taking the first step. We look forward to seeing you at our monthly meetings.

WVEF to Host Its 1st Industry Cluster--BioTech
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The West Virginia Entrepreneurs Forum is launching a new forum that will focus on BioTech. The BioTech Forum will be on Tuesday, November 12th at 5:30 PM at the National Research Center for Coal and Energy on West Virginia University's Evansdale Campus. The featured speaker, Dr. Ernest Villafranca, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, will discuss how the combination of strong linkages between educators, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry combined with a well executed "roadmap" helped San Diego become one the most prominent centers for the biotechnology industry in the world. Dr. Villafranca was part of the biotechnology explosion in San Diego and will offer valuable insight as both an academe and senior director of research for a large pharmaceutical company. In his presentation, he will cover his own biotechnology business experiences, what he saw happening in San Diego as the biotechnology industry developed and how this region might develop a strong biotech sector.

The WVEF's BioTech Forum meeting is free and open to the public and will be held every 2nd Tuesday of the month. Monthly programs include networking with a variety of business professionals, including venture capitalists, private investors, industry experts, business service providers, inventors and other successful entrepreneurs. Attire is business casual. In addition, an WVEF informal networking activity will be held each 3rd Thursday of the month at the La Casa restaurant in Morgantown's waterfront area.
